Inspired by Charli XCX’s remixes of her song, “Von Dutch,” I wanted this project to portray another remix with a featured artist. I chose the artist TAEYONG, who is a Korean singer, rapper, and leader of the group, NCT. Both artists have similar aesthetics, surrounding loud, chaotic party scenes. I merged the artist’s faces together, portraying their individual selves while also highlighting this collaboration. I also added a shatter effect to reference the “Von Dutch” music video, and a halftone effect to give the design a grungy look. The type used for the design remained fairly limited, with “Von Dutch” having the heaviest weight, “TAEYONG” being written in graffiti, and the rest being in the same font as Charli’s “Brat” album. The color palette stayed limited as well, utilizing the green from the “Brat” album, while including a deep blue. I felt that it was fitting to include photocards for this project, as many Korean idols do the same, and makes the vinyl more special for fans.
